WYOMING HORSEBACK PHOTO SAFARI
What's included in your Horseback Photo Safari:
- Trail-wise, gentle horses to transport you and your equipment into camp.
- Campfire cooked meals! Sack-lunch
will be provided for your day-trip excursions.
- Tent for a good night's rest. (You will need to bring your own sleeping
bag.)
- The average time and distance that we will travel in one day by horseback
will vary from 8 to 10 miles. Please be prepared to ride. Don't
worry if you are an inexperienced rider
because our horses are gentle, well broke and very mountain smart.
- Be
prepared to have a great time, see some breathtaking scenery
and experience this exciting adventure into the greater Yellowstone
region of northwest Wyoming.
When packing, it is important to
include the necessary clothing and equipment to ensure a safe,
enjoyable pack trip. It is equally important to avoid taking a
lot of extra, unnecessary
gear so we can travel as light as possible. There is a strictly
enforced weight limit of 50 lbs per person, so please pack accordingly.
When prioritizing your photo equipment for the horseback trip, pack only
the necessary items to accomplish the type of shooting you
plan on. The main priority is to have enough power resources and
disc storage space or
film. Your photography guide carries 1 body (Canon 10D), two lenses
(28-135 and 75-300) with 2 1-gigabyte cards. He has a UV filter
and a polarizer with all the camera
cleaning essentials (very important). In addition to his recommendations
for equipment, you may want a very sturdy tripod and a flash unit
in case you want to use fill flash for any
reason. This is a pretty streamlined list but it provides good
coverage and is easy to protect and access on the trail.
Recommended gear you will need to bring: - We suggest that your bring 2 water-resistant duffel bags: One for your
clothing and one for your sleeping bag. The size of the duffel
bag that will pack best on the pack animals will measure approximately
2 ft. long by 1 ft. tall
by 16 in. wide when filled with gear. When
packing, remember that our Wyoming summer weather can vary
from hot and sunny to cold and wet.
- Good quality sleeping bag (rated 20 to 30 degree F.)
- Light weight sleeping
pad
- Good quality rain gear (poncho or jacket and pants)
- Small flashlight
- 1 quart canteen or water bottle
- Sunglasses
- Binoculars (optional)
